Lil Hummers

The September, 2016 meeting of the Pickerel Pearson Wolf River Riders was call to order at 9:00 a.m. by President Jack Andraschko.

August meeting minutes were read by Mary Ann Wierschke.  The minutes were approved as read.   Motion by Dan W. and second by Hummer.  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report was given by Jan Fischer:

Checking Balance       $8717.96

Savings Balance         $ 6567.29

Motion by Dan to approve treasurer’s report as read; second by Jack.  Motion carried.

Membership report:

48 Families

24  Single

  7 Associate/Business

Jack made a motion to accept Membership Report; Lynn seconded, Motion Carried.

Trail report:

  • Crystal Lake Road has been signed and is open
  • The Forestry Department hasn’t made an effort to place signage in Augustyne Springs, we will bring up next spring to see if our club can get it signed better.
  • Getting to Mole Lake is not signed very well. Jack will talk to Eric from the Forestry Department to see if we can get permission to sign the routes a little better.
  • We received a call from Pickerel Point, stating their displeasure that neither the map, or our website indicates the trail to their business. We will work out a solution before the next map printing.

Jack made motion to approve Trail Report, Jan seconded motion.  Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Jack was informed by the Forestry Department that two state grants have been approved to open a trail from Cty Hwy A to Hwy 45.  The $50,000 & $30,000 grants will incorporate a wash station, picnic area and restrooms.

NEW BUSINESS:

Our club has been approached by Gus and Diane Turk,  requesting the Langlade portion of Hwy DD to be opened.  They have secured signatures of all the residents who live on Hwy DD for their approval of it being an ATV route.  Much discussion followed, and it was agreed that the following things have to be done:

  • We need a group of citizens to get on the agenda and attend a Hwy Commission meeting
  • If possible get signed letters to the Hwy Dept. from Pickerel businesses whose business would increase by opening DD.
  • Another alternative may be to get permission from landowners along DD to make a trail to Pickerel. Dan, Gus and Jack will get together with a plot map to see if a trail would be feasible.

Mary Ann agreed to get $50 gift certificates for our current land owners in appreciation of our club using their land for our trail system.

Next Meeting:

October 15, 4:30 pm  at Hummers

After the meeting we will leave from Hummers for our Annual Moon light and customer appreciation night ride.  We will spend time at Schuh’s and Final Lap before riding through the moonlit woods to Walleye Lodge for chicken.

In case of rain:  This ride will be cancelled.

Dan made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Humer.   All in favor.  Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned.

Meeting Minutes

August 20, 2016

Lil Hummers

The August, 2016 meeting of the Pickerel Pearson Wolf River Riders was call to order at 9:00 a.m. by President Jack Andraschko.

July meeting minutes were read by Mary Ann Wierschke. A correction to the July minutes,  should have stated the Town of Langlade did not have an ATV ordinance regarding town roads in place.  The corrected minutes were approved.   Motion by Phyllis Huss and second by Hummer.  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report was given by Jan Fischer:

Checking Balance       $8717.96

Savings Balance         $ 6407.29

Motion by Dan to approve treasurer’s report as read; second by Jack.  Motion carried.

Membership report:

48 Families

24  Single

  6 Associate/Business

Dan made a motion to accept Membership Report Jan seconded, Motion Carried.

Trail report:

·       The trail behind Guenther’s has been smoothed out.  Jack sent in paper work to county for reimbursement.

·       Some signs on Pickerel Lake Road are missing or knocked over.  Dan and Keith will replace and repair.

·       The Towns of Langlade and Nashville approved the opening of Crystal Lake Road.  A big thanks to Robert Mullins, a resident on Crystal Lake Road, to head up this endeavor.  Dan and Keith will sign the road.

·       Trail to Summit Lake—Eric hasn’t heard if the grant has been approved, we should have some information by August meeting.

Jack made motion to approve Trail Report, Jeff Peterman seconded motion.  Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Regarding the Town of Langlade:  We were under the impression the ATV ordinance had passed.  It has not.  The White Lake Businesses want the roads open, but the board does not share their enthusiasm.   Our club has concerns donating money to the White Lake Club, until the following criteria are met.  We need a defined map of roads opening, number of signs needed, and what signs and posts can be obtained from the Forestry Department.  Jan Fisher stated that when the Town of Hutchensen opened, each sign averaged $22 a piece.  Jack suggested that when and if the Town of Langlade opens routes, the ATV Clubs in Langlade County will get together to determine how to fund these new routes.

NEW BUSINESS:

None at this time.

Next Meeting:

September 17,  9:00 am  at Hummers

After the meeting we will leave from Hummers and ride to Popple River for a late lunch, returning back to the Pickerel area and stopping at one of our sponsors—Pickerel Point.

Treasurer’s report was given by Jan Fischer:

  • The far side of Lost Lake Road towards Hwy K is very rough. Dan will contact Town Chairman, Dick Guenther to see if anything can be done to smooth it out.

OLD BUSINESS:

None at this time

NEW BUSINESS:

The Town of Langlade has opened all town roads to ATV’s.  This is getting closer to making the connection from here to Lily.  Members from the White Lake ATV club attended our meeting, and stated a grant was being issued to fund some of the route.  They also asked for a donation from our club at this time.  It was suggested by Jan Fischer, whose township just went through this process; to mail a letter to the town residents asking for donations.    It was also decided that the White Lake Club needs to see how much the Town of Langlade residents are willing to pay, if the White Lake Club will receive a grant and how much they are contributing, and the total dollar amount they are asking from our club.   Jack Andraschko, stated as a club, we need to take a wait and see attitude, as the trail to Jack Lake is being considered to open.  If the grants that were applied for do not come through, we may need to take quite a sizable amount from our treasury to fund that trail.

It was brought up that the Langlade County Board, Highway committee are re-assessing all open town roads.  Jack will represent our club at this meeting.

Next Meeting:

August 20th. 9:00 am  at Hummers

After the meeting we will ride to the shelter in Parrish Highlands, for a ‘weenie roast’   You are asked to bring your own beverages.  The club will sponsor the lunch.

Club Rides

  • August 20th - Ride to Parrish/Highlands shelter for cookout
  • September 17 – Fall Color ride to Popple River for late lunch
  • October 15 – Night Ride - Leaving from Hummers at 5:30 pm stopping at Schuh’s and Final Lap, finishing up at Walleye for some of Dawn’s famous chicken.  (not regular meeting time)

·        Contacts are being made with the landowners along DD to see if we can get a trail to Pickerel.  Jack Andraschko has obtained permission from one landowner already.

·        Town Chairman, Dick Guenther, will check the condition of Lost Lake Road to see if it is necessary to smooth out.

·        A State Funded trail is in the works, and hopefully will be ready for our club to maintain and sign by the 2017 season.  This trail will connect the Augustyne Ramp on Cty Hwy A to Hwy 45 then to the Railroad bed.  This would allow rider’s access to Antigo from the south and Summit Lake, from the north.

·        Trails are scheduled to open May 1, but PLEASE check with the County Forestry Department to verify that the trails are actually ready by that date.

OLD BUSINESS:

·        The St. Patrick’s Day parade was a huge success.  We had 21 ATV’s participating and handed out lots of candy

o   A BIG thank you to Keith and Lynn Verhagen for organizing and cooking  plus donating chips etc.

o   Also a thank you goes out to Jim and Phyllis Huss for allowing our club to use their property to gather and have a cookout.

·        Jan Fischer would like to thank our club on behalf of the Town of Hutchinson for our donation of signs to get some routes opened in that area.
