Membership Report:

No report at this time

Old Business:

  • Spring ditch clean up didn't materialize as there were too few volunteers, perhaps a clean up in the fall.
  • ATV Safety class training went well although poorly attended
  • ATV ‘free' day went well. No one asked for guided trail rides. Good turnout may have been attributed to a Polker Run happening at the same time. Guessing over 100 machines throughout the day. It was a good PR for the three Langlade County ATV clubs.

New Business:

Trail Report

  • Area in front of a residence on Lost Lake Rd, had been salted as a measure of dust control.
  • Everything has been approved to open road from Cty Hwy Z to Cty Hwy M. Mole Lake has given each club in Langlade County $3000.00 for their help in getting a Route to Mole Lake. Additionally, Mole Lake will be responsible for the signage on this route.
  • The three Langlade Clubs will get together to update the map.
  • Hummer will get on agenda of next Town of Ainsworth meeting, to see if more roads can be opened.
  • Wolf River Trail: According to the DNR, as of May 29, 2013 the Wolf River State Fisheries Policy "No summer use of motorized vehicles allowed on grade"

ATV Safety Training Class:  (Pat Girtz reported)

  • The numbers were significantly down from other years. Normally we have been averaging 32-42 participants. This year we had seven students. Perhaps the low number of participants is because the DNR offers the class on line. The DNR states the participant must be 16 to take the internet class; but in reality, they will approve anyone who is 12 or older.
  • As a club, we can't afford to offer the class for a handful of students. Collectively, the instructors have logged in more than 100 clock hours of volunteer time.
  • Pat also stated she really appreciates all the help from our club members who volunteer with the safety training class:
  • o Connie & Harlan Fink
  • o Jan Fischer
  • o Kirsten Yeager
  • o Jack Andraschko
  • o Paul Immel
  • o Lynn Verhagen (EMT)
  • o Mary Ann Wierschke
  • o Harlan Girtz
  • o Hummer for donation of water
  • As a thank you to the students, they were given trail maps and club scarves.
  • Pat also has a lot of Safety Training booklets that she is giving away, Hummer will keep them at the bar for distribution. Anyone interested in obtaining a booklet, contact Hummer.

Increasing Membership:

  • Sending Associate membership forms to local businesses is not working. The contact needs to be made face to face.
  • o Sheila Yeager will head up a group to visit potential Associate members.
  • The club has agreed that Mary Ann Wierschke will compose a letter to all campers in the area campgrounds, who have ATVs. The letter will be distributed over the July 4th holiday. The letter will indicate what the club has done so far, and plans for the future. The letter will also serve as a reminder of some of the most violated ATV rules.
  • Other means of increasing membership is our website and Facebook page.

July Meeting:

  • July 20th at 9:00 am at Hummers.
  • Club Ride: After the meeting, Hummer will lead the group to Bailey's Town and Country bar for lunch.

Lynn Verhagen motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Pat Girtz, all approved and motion carried.

Discussion on increasing Associate Membership:  Discussion centered on the fact that a face-to-face with the businesses may work better than a mail or e-mail contact.

Also in April, ask for volunteers to set up club rides for the upcoming ATV season.
