Trail report was given by Jack Andraschke:
- Jack attended the Forestry Department meeting regarding the new trail to Summit Lake. The trail will cross Cty Hwy A, south of ATV ramp and cross back over to connect with the snowmobile trail. No timeline was given for completion; we are hoping the end of September. The new trail may have to be signed prior to opening, and volunteers will be welcome.
- There are some issues with the Pickerel Creek Road intersection and Cty Hwy T. There is a lot of dust blowing into the residence across the street. This will be addressed next year, as this season is almost over. A few suggestions were: put up signage indicating a “No Dust Zone” or spread salt compound.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Sheila Yeager secured Final Lap and Schroeder’s Auto as associate members.
- The new owners of Trailside Motel and Longshots attended the meeting. They are interested in getting Cty Hwy T open to their business. Opening T would allow our club the ability to advertise we have a motel on our trail system. Jack Andraschko will work with the owners as to the procedures of the County Board and Highway Commission.
- Map money should be collected from area businesses.
NEW BUSINESS:
- The club’s insurance policy arrived, the bill has not. When it does Jack will write out check.

Meeting Minutes
June 17, 2017
9:00 am
Lil Hummers
The June, 2017 meeting of the Pickerel Pearson Wolf River Riders was call to order at 9:00 a.m. by Vice President Lil Hummer.
April meeting minutes were read by Mary Ann Wierschke. Motion by Hummer.to accept the minutes and second by Sheila Yeager. Motion carried. The minutes were approved as read.
Treasurer’s report was given by Jan Fischer:
Checking Balance $7842.19
Savings Balance $ 8942.45
Motion by Dan W. to approve treasurer’s report as read; second by Ron. Motion carried.
Membership report:
Report was read by Mary Ann in Mike Glasheen’s absence. (as of this writing Mary Ann misplaced the read report) Membership will be updated at July Meeting.
Trail report:
- The trail connecting the east and west sides of 55 has been re-established. In order for it to be opened the Town of Ainsworth had to approve opening Forest Road. Landowner’s permission was sought and approved. Steve Bailey was hired by club to excavate the trail. The trail still needs a little fine tuning, and that will happen later in the season. Our club strongly enforces all riders to respect and be considerate of the residents and cottage owners along Forest Road, as if we lose this connection we have NO other recourse.
- A question arose if we are going to do anything on the other side of County Road “A”. Dan will check out and report back next meeting.
- It was also a concern that the 10mph speed limits are knocked down along Pickerel Lake Road. It was noted that the 10mph speed limits have been lifted by the state; UNLESS you are riding past a person not on another ATV/UTV, or domestic animals, or if you are riding within 150 feet of a residence. Dan and Jack will check on and replace other signage.
- Signs on Lost Lake Road have been removed or re-placed, by someone other than those on the Trail Committee of our club. It is illegal to tamper with any road signage placed on any road by our club or the town. In moving forward, all of Lost Lake Road is open to ATV/UTVers, from Hwy KK to State Hwy 55. (It is illegal to ride on State Hwy 55.) Dan will check out signs on Lost Lake Road.
Keith made motion to approve Trail Report, Jan seconded motion. Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
- There was a good turnout for the June (Free) days at Hummers. Jack had quite a few new club memberships as well.
- Hummer will research the idea of the White Lake Club to take part of the responsibility of the Polar area and our club will take responsibility for the other half of the trails to the north.
NEW BUSINESS:
- The Nicolet trail has been re-graded and is smooth from Lily to Crandon.
- It has been noted that business memberships are down. It was suggested that someone go to our businesses and ask them to become associate members. A few of our club members generously offered to visit businesses. They will report in next meeting.
- Watch details at our next meeting for a club ride to Watersmeet, Michigan (stay at casino over night and return next day)
Next Meeting:
July 15, 9:00am at Hummers
PINK AND BLUE Trail Ride on Saturday, July 15th
Prize for best, silliest Pink outfit and Prize for best, silliest Blue outfit!
Ladies please try to wear pink and Gents, please try to wear Blue!
After the Club Meeting, trail ride to Wild Rose Bar, on Roberts Lake, Wabeno address. The bar/restaurant opens at 11:00.
We will have lunch there and possibly do some trivia for prizes.
On the way back, we could make a stop at Final Lap and/or Walleye Lodge.
In case of heavy rain, ride will be cancelled. Light, sporadic rain, decision will be made at meeting.
Dan made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Keith. All in favor. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.

Membership forms were sent out to businesses that have e-mails
Memberships received from September 2016 and later will be carried over to the next year.
Jack made a motion to accept Membership Report; Dan seconded, Motion Carried.
Trail report:
- Mary Ann read a letter the club received on March 30, 2017 from Linda and Louis Michiel, stating they were closing their property to ATVers; due to lack of respect, and speed in front of their property on Lost Lake Road. Our club thanks Linda and Louie for the years they did allow us to use their property. Their property allowed us to connect from Lost Lake Road to Forest Road.
- Club President, Jack Andraschko has been working diligently to find another route to connect us to the county land.
- He has talked to Eric with the Forestry Department to see if it might be feasible to go through a marsh area. We would need to get permission from the DNR then apply for a state grant to get a trail. Also permission to connect us to this land would need to be obtained from the landowners. This may take a year or two to get all the permissions and grants.
- Jack then looked at an option for a temporary route. He thought he had one to be ready for the Memorial Day weekend, only to find out there was one landowner he was not initially aware of, who refused to allow ATV’s on his property.
- Jack has another option he is working on: A few road blocks he has encountered are: Forest Road had never been approved by the town board, when all the other town roads were approved. To make it legal, approval has to be done first. Jack’s next step is getting landowners to agree that their property can become an atv route. Next will be contacting Steve Bailey for some work to make the trail passable, then signing it. When this trail is opened, we ask all to use EXTREME consideration, if this trail is lost, there may be no other way to connect the areas east or west of Hwy 55.
- The club has expended many dollars purchasing a type of salt to spread on Lost Lake Road in front of Michiels property to keep dust down. It was agreed to give Hummer the spreader and remaining salt to put on the trail that goes through the campground, keeping dust down for the campers along the trail.
- The signs on Lost Lake Road have been removed by someone with no club affiliation.
- There is a washout on Lost Lake Road caution signs have been put up to alert traffic to use care when crossing.
- It has been suggested to put notices in bars and restaurants to make folks aware to use our trails with respect. (We need volunteers to do this.)
- Joe from Pickerel Point has agreed to meet with the Langlade County Board to see if County Hwy DD can be opened from Forest County into Pickerel.
- Langlade County changed the 10mph signs on County Hwy Z to 35mph.
- The following townships have either opened or are very close to opening their town roads to atv/utv’s: Polar, Town of Hutchensen, Town of Norwood and town of Almond.
Jack made motion to approve Trail Report, Jan seconded motion. Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
Keith and Lynn Verhagen were acknowledged and thanked for the work they did, to provide burgers and refreshments for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade
NEW BUSINESS:
- A new atv club is being formed in Northwest Shawano County
- A vote was taken to approve our joining WATVA for the upcoming season.
- Suggestions for club rides were: Popple River, Night Ride, Augustyne Springs and overnight to Mercer/Hurley area. Open for discussion during June meeting.
Next Meeting:
June 17, 9:00am at Hummers
Dan made the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Keith. All in favor. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
